I have just finished my third Italian lesson, whoop whoop whoop!! Driving home I considered either uploading the recording as I struggled to read the latest passage which was full of ‘gli’ and ‘gn’ words or uploading the amazingly long list of verbs I have been instructed to learn.
However.
I know some of you read my little blog, because it contains very sensible information on Italy, for example my post on the cost of living in Italy (Link) …. which I have to add is rising.
For those who are desperately trying to learn the language and are struggling just like me, here are some flash cards I have produced to help you.
Have a great weekend…. PN
The polizia may be useless, but they do know how to pose.

It is an Italian thing

I guess the Polizia in Venice don’t look like that because they don’t have motorcycles. Although they do strike nice poses in their boats when they go speeding by with sirens blaring.

Yes, they are probably late home for their dinner

Or their coffee break. Oh, that’s right, in Italy it’s probably a wine break.

Your posts always put a smile on my face! I went to an Italian language school in Montepulciano for three weeks, thinking it would be a nice vacation! They are serious about learning their language, but I met a lot of great people from everywhere!

Did they kill you with the grammar? They produce fabulous wine there don’t they.

What was really bad is I had studied Italian for two years before I went!!!!!! I was in la la land and it started right after they gave me the placement test! Yes, we were drinking before class,( for breakfast) the cafe was just across from the school, then at noon and then went out into the wee hours of the night! Fun times and I remember some of the language stuff!

There are Italians that struggle with the verbs, so the British have no chance, especially after we have lubricated ourselves with a little wine

Your flash cards are brilliant! You can quit your day job any time now.
I like bidets, especially the ones in Japan, they are sheer luxurious bliss! trust me when I say you’d make excuses to keep going to the bathroom! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toilets_in_Japan

For example, could you walk past these features: “While the toilet looks like a Western-style toilet at first glance, there are numerous additional features—such as blow dryer, seat heating, massage options, water jet adjustments, automatic lid opening, automatic flushing, wireless control panel, room heating and air conditioning for the room.”

Good idea. What ever works. All that matters is providing you with a way to learn the language.

Even I’m questioning your Italian pronunciation. I weep for your teacher. You remind me of this guy – https://expateyeonlatvia.wordpress.com/2014/03/26/the-latvians-rewrite-the-english-dictionary/

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the pronunciation on my helpful flash cards 😉 … They are invaluable to anyone who is studying the Italian language.

Hi Bea, Ok I had to use my trusty Italian / English dictionary to work this one out.
Sorry you didn’t like the Bidet flash card, the English don’t normally have these fitted in their houses.
There is a wonderful thread on the Brit expat forum discussing what they are used for. A small sink for children and feet washing were among the replies. But my favourite was the woman who said ” I have tried using the bidet, but the toilet paper sticked to my bum when I tried to dry myself after”

.. yes I know, but you can get the same sound if you use “BEE” instead !
