A dedicated follower of fashion

I have lived in Italy for the past six years, or maybe it is seven years, I forget dates much like I forget birthdays and anniversaries. But one thing that is hard to forget, is I am living in the fashion capital of the world.

Even old biddies on bicycles, get in on the act. They make sure they have their best fur coat on and sometimes they feel it is necessary to carry two hand bags; one to match the clothes and one to match the bike.

(I am not normally very good at acknowledging where my pics come from, but please take a trip to Italian Confetti the snapper of this pic)

I have squeezed the following fashion picture in for all you women bloggers. Ladies, note the six packs, following my diet and my ride to Germany on the back of Franco’s bike I hope to obtain one of these. P.S I have lost 4 kilos somewhere, so a small round of applause please.

So where was I? Oh yes, we have a delegation from Mrs Sensible’s family staying for a couple of weeks. So last Tuesday, or maybe it was Wednesday, I drove to Milan airport to meet them and snapped the following picture.

By now, you regulars will already know where I am heading with this post. I am a dedicated follower of fashion. I always make sure my flip flops match my cut off jeans and t shirt, that is  providing, Mrs Sensible doesn’t tell me to go back to the bedroom and change into trousers and a nice linen shirt.  However, I do occasionally need to wear a business suit and following the example of the lady at the airport I think I have found one.

  1. Great post! The summer season is great to observe how everyone’s vision of fashion varies. I love your new look, very Blue-Brothers-Meets-Freddy-Mercury 😀 When I was in Milan once, I saw a girl trip over the doorstep of a clothes shop because she was admiring her reflection in the shop window instead of looking where she was going. The Italians seem to be obsessed with appearance, and they stare at eachother in the street. Very unnerving.
Thanks for the line-up of half-naked men. If they know how to cook and clean too, I’ll consider adopting one as my good deed of the day.

  2. Lol, very good post! Better than the elderly 80 year old lady I see at the gym, fully dressed up, jewelry and all with 5 inch hoop earrings, slugging away on the treadmill, lol.

  3. Thanks for the eye candy, love all the pictures. For a country obsessed with fashion those people at the airport could be from my town. What would make anyone think that shirt was attractive? Gotta say I love the suit, makes sense on hot days to keep cool. I always wondered how men survived the heat in a three piece suit.

        • Hi MM, work has been difficult this month and I have not had much to laugh at or write about, and the farce with Mr Cretino is now pure madness. I fly to the UK in 10 days and I am considering applying for a UK driving licence.

Thanks for the nudge, and for the a knight in a shining Armani

            • I should do a post update…
Mr Cretino, ask me to sign a form to agree that I was who I said I was, some sort of self certification form, so I printed the form and sent Mrs Sensible down to the city centre to deliver it. The main office in Alessandria said the form was not valid and a complete waste of time, just like Mr Cretino.

Mr Cretino said he is waiting for DVLA to respond to his letters, so I phoned DVLA, and they said “Mr Cretino, never heard of him” I suggested they read my blog.

              • That’s nuts! The French asked me to get a medical exam done, and as far as I know, that’s all…. Can’t the main office in Aleesandria deal with your application, if they know what to do? By-pasing Mr Cretino may make things eaiser, methinks…

  5. Most of the people at the airport seem to be wearing jeans and t shirts… or are these the non Italians!? Don’t think Mrs Sensible would let you buy that suit but if she does… you’ve got to post a picture! 😀 Well done on the 4 kilos… that’s great! 🙂

  6. That backless shirt with a black bra is fashion? The most fashionable women I have seen in Italy are the traffic police in our little town in Sicily. Last summer, they were out in 35 degree weather with perfect make up, hair, nails, high heels and very chic uniforms. They impressed the heck outta me!

  7. Love the photo of the woman on the bike. As far as your business suit, you are right on target. Black and white are definitely in. You can always dress it up or down with accessories.
You have a great sense of humor.
